There has been ongoing research on the health benefits of knitting. Many experts believe that the repetitive motion of knitting calms the mind and increases self-consciousness. But can we compare knitting to yoga! We certainly can! Let’s see how….

Knitting and Yoga are both ancient skills, that force the practitioner to halt and take note of one’s surroundings. Both these put the body into meditative mode. Mindfulness increases self-awareness and relieves stress.

Knitting is not only stress-relieving, it has been proven that knitting improves hand-eye coordination, concentration and capability to learn. It is an excellent hobby for school kids as it helps them study better and they get a sense of accomplishment out of their knitting projects. A lot of schools today are realising the positive effects of knitting and have inculcated teaching of knitting in their curriculums.
